Decide which to use - get a Solar Cooker you will use often...

There are many different Solar Cookers that will help you start cooking in the sun. You can make your own with one of the many designs on the internet. This can be fun and costly - but the results are unreliable. Even among commercially available units there is only a few that work properly.

Panel Cooker -
Good Points - Very Small, Cheap
Bad Points - Doesn't get very hot, Can't bake, Takes long time to Cook, Doesn't keep food hot

Solar Oven
Good Points - Hotter temperatures, Some keep food hot
Bad Points - Most can't bake (bread etc), Most take a long time to cook.

Parabolic Cooker -
Good Points - Very Hot temperatures
Bad Points - Dangerous (can cause blindness / wind hazard), Very Big, Expensive, Must be refocussed often, can burn food.

Hybrid -
Good Points - Can cook with electricity
Bad Points - Defeats the purpose, poor solar cooking ability

Our Pick? - The Global Sun Oven!
This is a Solar Oven design but uses reflectors to gain extra heat. This mean it can cook faster & Bake / Roast etc but doesnt have the size, danger and expense associated with parabolic cookers.
It is also designed to keep food hot for hours and doesn't need adjusting as often It folds down compact for traveling, doesn't burn food easily & is easy to use. By far the best choice to date! easily & is easy to use. Bakes loaf of bread in 45 minutes, Roast (1.5kg) in about 1hr 15min!
